we live in a hick state. or maybe i should rephrase, our Governor is a hick. i was listening to my favorite morning show today, ( tim & the animal) when mike johanns(the governor) just showed up. unannounced. to sit and talk with the morning show crew. my perception of the problem? an election year gasp at reaching the audience of 18-25yr olds in nebraska, with whom mr. johanns has nothing in common. infact it was quite funny to hear him talk about being “easily amused” and that his stopping by was “clearly coincidental” that he was just “in the neighborhood”… wow. maybe the fact that with him as gov. our state has had constant money troubles is making him think he won’t get re-elected….

today is the day that i’ve slightly been concerned about…

the issue is as follows, I took this job in December of 2001, and have enjoyed it very much, however, shortly after i arrived here i was made aware of the fact that the college was almost levied heavy fines for misappropriation of equipment, big words for not knowing where it’s inventory was. specifically not having a working list of pc’s and all equipment worth more than $500. I’ve since been involved with several meetings involving procedure and methods of tracking notebooks and other mobile equipment, and found that in the system there were at least 26 “missing” notebooks across three campuses…

the good news™
according to our inventory database at this moment, this campus has 528 pc’s and they’re all accounted for. this campus has 18 printers that meet the $500 mark, all accounted for. 3 digital picture cameras, 2 digital 8 video cameras, and 17 32″ TV’s…all accounted for.
and….my desk is clean.
