You know who I miss?

That cajun chef. On PBS.

I gay-RON-tee.

I liked the frugal gourmet too.

cooking shows in general, i miss. though i never so much liked emeril. i enjoyed what he cooked, but never really liked his personality. it wasn’t really the *bam* stuff that he did, no, i enjoyed the liquoring and the spicing. it was when he went quietly into “savant mode” and he’d get his face a few inches away from what he was doing and you could just tell that he’d tuned you out completely. why watch a show where you’re being just being ignored?

and i hated his band.

never much liked julia child either, but i think that’s just because she scared me when i was little.

investigated

well, it’s official, i’ve been “interviewed” or “interrogated” in an investigation. one of my friends here in GI, did a little wardriving, and sniffed a few wireless networks in town, and by his own mistake, mentioned it while teaching a class.
this comes back to haunt him when the sheriff’s dept. calls and hauls him downtown to “talk”. upon doing so, he is intimidated by lies about the FBI, and previously interviewing his brother, another techie person, and that if he’s got something to hide, he should spill it now.
this is where i come in, they then brought him back to the college, and sent him home. the “investigators” then took turns with each of us (the other 3 techs here @ the college) and asked us what we knew.
my opinion? this was a witch hunt. the police didn’t understand the issue, and got scared. they’re network is entirely wireless.
so they freaked.
during my portion of the investigation, i was told that they were “simply trying to assure the security of the data of hall county”, to which i replied, “well then maybe it’s time to have a consultant, like keith, come in and have tell you what steps you need to take in securing youselves and your data”. to which i was told, we’re definately considering it.
considering it?! they’ve got a linksys wifi router with no wep or any form of encryption, a 5th grader with a PDA on his bike could pull signal from it!
aaah the technological age we live in…
