I think many people would agree with me if I said weezer has survived so well though the years because they have some type of cult following like star trek. I went out and bought their 5th album (make believe) in hopes that maybe they went back to the styles of true blue. I remind you I do this with every album in hopes, most times i’m let down besides a couple catchy singles. This album is the same. So i’ll just have to look back at the good ole days until number 6 comes out. Lets all keep our fingers crossed.

I’ve pretty much come to terms with the fact that they’ll never release another blue. Pop music changes, and Weezer hsa played it’s part. And now they’re done. It’s sad, I know. But true.
Now go throw on blue and drown your sorrows.
another blue? how about another pinkerton?
i was thinking that too, drew, but then i figured that really, pinkerton is in a class all by itself… to have another pinkerton would just be disappointing… in my opinion, it shouldn’t happen… i would like to think it could, but i don’t think it should… 12345
bah. pinkerton was but a shadow of blue. and jessica’s right, it’s like it was made by a completely different band. in fact, i’d say the weezer of today isn’t really the weezer of blue, it’s the weezer of pinkerton… but now they just release entirely forgettable albums. who am i to be saying this though? i haven’t listened to weezer in years. though i still wear the shirt.
because it’s good.
ROCK MUSIC! =w=
the missing link: Matt Sharp (bass player for blue and pinkerton). obviously his background vocals are missed dearly (surf wax america, el scorcho) but i have a hunch he had some hand in those delicious arrangements too, because everything from green forward is some agonizingly monotonous shade of verse chorus verse. where tha left turnz at?
oh yeah, we played jonas on our last radio show.
wish i could hear it. hehe.
so glancing at the clock at midnight on friday i thought … what was i supposed to be doing on my computer tonite? d’oh!
sincerest apologies for striking out two weeks in a row. maybe when you move to your new time slot i’ll be able to remember things. i can’t vouch for my memory after 9pm.
bah. radio show. mark’s memory! a jedi craves not these things.
and i guess i am never understood. i wasn’t speaking that i wouldn’t want another blue. or that i somehow thought pinkerton was better than blue. i simply stated it’d be nice to get back to the beginning. sheesh.
i would argue that i don’t think that the weezer of pinkerton is the weezer of today… the weezer of today is too, i guess poppy? not as dark. there’s a darkness to pinkerton that i haven’t noticed elsewhere, although i must admit i haven’t listened to much after the lime weezer… kind of lost interest… so i could just be wrong. or the matt sharp situation, that could be a lot of it.
who would have thought that the weezer many of us love isn’t because of rivers cuomo, but someone else in the band?
thats a very good point, i also have wondered myself if it was the departure of bassist matt shape that sent them into there downward spiral. And also….yes there songs are to poppy now. just to poppy.
Mark after listing to my blue album I found that I loaded it onto my computer but the cd was scratched so I can listen to say it ain’t so anyway you can get me that on a good cd
Can’t listen I can’t listen to say it ain’t so
